get ready to laugh.

I have been excited about getting The Stirrup Queen’s new book Navigating the Land of IF for about a week and a half now. I went to Ba.rnes and lessthanNob.le and ordered the book. I went ahead and had it sent to the house..so I could get it THAT much quicker.

The 5 minute drive to the store would just be too much wasted time. πŸ˜‰

We had our trip to the big city (more on that later) this weekend, and when we got home at 1030 last night there was the brown little package.
Propped up on our door. (thank GOD it didn’t rain this weekend like it has today!!)
I was too tired last night after the long drive back and an aching back to open it, and I also knew if I did I wouldn’t go to sleep. I would want to read.

This morning after I made my coffee and smoothie, I sat down to open the package and loose myself in IF related reading. I was going to educate myself on how to get pregnant- by someone who knows. I was going to learn about the different treatments I could get…and prepare myself for what we are going to be going through.

I was so excited I held my breath as I opened the box.
What I found really educated me.

In the book that was delivered was definitely a how to guide to get pregnant…just not for the IFer. It was definitely filed with different treatments..

I just don’t think two horny cowboys and a sex starved 18 year old will get me pregnant.

This is what I got instead of an IF road map:
oooooh the irony. Literary P.O.R.N instead of a book about IF. Honestly I couldn’t make this up. The funny part is that the packing slip has someone else’s name and address on it. I am ROLLLING thinking about how poor Ms. Doe was expecting her ‘pick me up’ in the mail and gets a book about infertility. What an absolute let down on her part. I thought about mailing her book, but then how would I get mine? I would be MORTIFIED if someone got this type of book and then mailed it too me. πŸ™‚
I had to share the hilarity. I took it back to the store with the packing slip and my order form showing that I, indeed, didn’t care about the Sins of Summer, and just wanted to get knocked up. They found it very very funny.
I am still busting out with peels of laughter just thinking of that poor lady without her p.o.r.n. Really hope she wasn’t expecting the book as a present to herself for Mother’s Day. Maybe if she is using the book to get her in the mood b/c she is TTC….and the Land of IF will benefit her.
Who knows. All I know is that this will always make me laugh on a tough day.
I will write more about the visit to UroGod and Dr. 5000(my new RE) tomorrow.

I know I have the maturity of a South Park boy, but I could not stop laughing with this. That is quite literally the best story ever. The only thing that would have topped it is if you saved that book and left it out on your coffee table and told people with a straight face that it was going to get you preggers πŸ™‚

  3. Bwahahahahahahahaha! Love it!

  4. Thanks for the laugh this morning! Luckily, there was no one else in the office to ask what I was giggling about :).

  5. HAHAHAHA – I would die laughing. That would be SO funny. It’s the little things!

Oh, this is too funny!!!! I would have died laughing. Poor Ms. Sins of Summer, without her book 😦

  10. Here from Mel’s Friday blog roundup… OMG!!! That is hilarous! I don’t know which part is funnier the book you received in lieu of The Land of IF of that the one who ordered the one you got most likely received The Land of IF! I would love to have been a fly on her wall when she opened her package!!! Thanks for sharing! Good stuff! πŸ™‚

  11. That is way too funny!

  12. Here from LFCA: This is somehow Karma, or justice, or universal irony. I’m just trying to grapple with which. You will do random weekly quotes from your new book, yes?

Off to order Mel’s book and see what *I* get!

  13. LMAO!

  14. That just made me howl with laughter. Thanks for writing about it – it was a much needed pick me up!

  15. Here from Mel's Friday Roundup, & trying not to crack up too loudly in my cubicle. What a priceless story!! (And I just got the notice last night that MY copy should be here today, woohoo!!… Fingers crossed it's the right book, lol!)

  16. Hysterical! Now I’m imagining the person who was expecting this book pouring a glass of wine, lighting some candles, and opening the package … to find a book on infertility.

  17. You just can’t make this stuff up!!!! Oh my…it’s just too perfect. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

    Here from the Roundup, too.

Maybe it’s just me and my memories of when we found out my husband had no sperm, but two sexy cowboys sounds a lot more fun than the 6 dIUIs we wound up doing!

I agree with Lollipop Goldstein – best story ever! Thanks for sharing!

  20. that’s a great story. πŸ™‚
