Descisions Descisions!!

I am so excited- we have our Hawaii Trip booked. WOOO HOOO!!! Last April we went to a conference and bid on a 5 day hotel stay at Marriott’s Ko’Olina hotel in Oahu during a charity silent auction. We researched the hotel and bid a great bargain price….thought we didn’t get it b/c other people bid higher. Then a month later viola! They called to tell us we had it. YIPPPEEE!!

We are going to go over our anniversary week and I am freakin‘ excited. Anybody have any suggestions on this things to do there? I am not really excited about the long ass flight either. I think we are going to splurge on the seats and upgrade. I will pay extra when I have to be on a plane for 13 hours. UGH.

My husband’s main goal of this whole trip is to ride in a 757…or whatever the really big airplane is. He is just as excited about that as he is going to Hawaii I think. πŸ™‚ Now he is geeked out about riding on the top floor if we upgrade our seats. LOL. He is kinda cute about the whole process.

Normally I am very thrifty about stuff like this- but I figure this is our last hooray before we start IVF later this year. Might as well hit it up style while we can. We have our IVF money in it’s own account just waiting…..and waiting….and waiting……

and waiting. To be spent. Slowly gaining 3% interest. LOL!

So, any suggestions on the trip to HI let me know. I am open to ideas as I have never been there.

Other update- I have been extremely lazy as of late. I just can’t get out of a rut. We are supposed to go to the beach this weekend, but I just can’t get off my lazy butt and get stuff done. It is already twelve- UGH. I need an enthusiasm infusion STAT!!

Your trip sounds wonderful. I have always wanted to go there. YAY! I wish I had some advice on what to do. …except have as much fun! Where do you live that you are going to the beach now…Florida?

  2. OMG! So exciting!

JD and I spent our anniversary this past year in HI. We stayed at the Turtle Bay Resort on the North Shore (seen in Forgetting Sarah Marshall). Ko’Olina is soooo beautiful. For a fancy and wonderful dinner, try Roy’s, which is right there on the golf course. Fantastic!

Be sure to visit Pearl Harbor, you’ll need to get there early in the morning because lines are loooong!

JD and I also enjoyed hiking Diamondhead Trail (bring water!) and just driving around the whole island.

  3. Thanks for visiting my blog and commenting! It is so comforting to have a community I can start to lean on. πŸ™‚ Looks like you’ve been through quite a bit too and in a different type of waiting game right now. I look forward to hearing more about about what is next for you and what the REs tell you.

As for your Hawaii trip, how absolutely cool!! I don’t know where you live or if you have to take connecting flights but it sounds like you said one flight was at least 13 hours. I’ve done trips that long (and ugh..even longer to Australia and India) and if you can afford the upgrade with miles or money, do it!! If not, the airline usually tries as much as possible to make the trip comfortable for you food wise/drink wise. Try to book the bulk overhead seats if you can, or at least one of you should book a aisle seat so you can get in and out easily to go to the bathroom.

I know you asked for Hawaii tips but if you care to read other travel tips for long trips: bring sandals to wear so you can take them on/off easily (or bring socks that you don’t mind throwing out after you’ve walked all over the aircraft in them). Of course make sure to bring your typical small bottles of lotion and toothpaste. I usually pack those disposable face wash cloths from Dove or Olay. Perfect for freshening up and not feeling grimy. Do the same for body wash cloths.

LOL, this has gotten quite long. If I think of anything else, I’ll come back!! πŸ™‚

  4. A belated…
Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday dear L! Happy birthday to you!

You lucky girl! Hawaii’s the bomb! I dream of Maui. I only spend an afternoon on Oahu.

  5. I am on the Gulf Coast- going to Gulf Shores this weekend actually. πŸ™‚ I have gotten to be friends with a lady that rents condos. πŸ™‚ Good to have connections.

    Thanks for the suggestions Jendeis!!!

How wonderful – a fabulous Hawaiian vacation. I hope you guys have a wonderful time! I don’t have any advice unfortunately…even though I’m in CA we always end up in Mexico instead of Hawaii.

    Have a great weekend!

  7. What a great sounding trip! I’ve only been to Oahu once, and only for 2 days! I think Pearl Harbor is a must. Also, we took one day and drove around the whole island, stopping at a few places to snorkel, eat, drink, etc. It was a great way to see a lot in a short amount of time. I’m so jealous! I wanted to go over my spring break (right now) but we didn’t book our flights in time to get them free (miles), then I got laid off, so it’s probably for the best. Still, I’ll be living through you!
